Returning to silence
Silence is not the absence of sound. It is what remains when you stop fighting the moment. Meditation, in one sense, is training that recognition: the noise can stay; your relationship to it can soften.
Hearing without chasing
Try opening to sound as a field rather than a set of problems. A car passes, a bird calls, a thought narrates — all of it appears in the same open space. You do not need to silence the world to find quiet. You need only to meet what is here with a little less armor.
A gentle close
When you are ready to end a sit, widen attention to the body and the room. Move slowly. Let the benefits distribute themselves; there is nothing to hoard. The same awareness that met silence meets the rest of the day.
